דְּרוֹר יִקְרָא לְבֵן עִם בַּת, וְיִנְצָרְכֶם כְּמוֹ בָבַת, נְעִים שִׁמְכֶם וְלֹא יֻשְׁבַּת, שְׁבוּ וְנֽוּחוּ בְּיוֹם שַׁבָּת׃

dĕror yiqraʾ lĕven 'īm bath, wĕyinṣarĕkhem kĕmo vavath, nĕ'im shimkhem wĕloʾ yushbath, shĕvu wĕnuḥu bĕyom shabbath.

He will proclaim freedom for son and daughter, and guard you as the pupil of an eye; your pleasant name shall never cease — rest and find repose on the Sabbath day.

דְּרוֹשׁ נָוִי וְאוּלָמִי, וְאוֹת יֶֽשַׁע עֲשֵׂה עִמִּי, נְטַע שׂוֹרֵק בְּתוֹךְ כַּרְמִי, שְׁעֵה שַׁוְעַת בְּנֵי עַמִּי׃

dĕrosh nawi wĕʾulami, wĕʾoth yesha' 'ăseh 'immi, nĕṭa' soreq bĕthokh karmi, shĕ'eh shaw'ath bĕne 'ammi.

Seek out my dwelling and my hall, and show me a sign of salvation; plant a choice vine within my vineyard, and heed the cry of my people's children.

דְּרוֹךְ פּוּרָה בְּתוֹךְ בָּצְרָה, וְגַם בָּבֶל אֲשֶׁר גָּבְרָה, נְתוֹץ צָרַי בְּאַף וְעֶבְרָה, שְׁמַע קוֹלִי בְּיוֹם אֶקְרָא׃

dĕrokh pura bĕthokh baṣĕra, wĕgham bavel ʾăsher gavĕra, nĕthoṣ ṣaray bĕʾaf wĕ'evra, shĕma' qoli bĕyom ʾeqraʾ.

Tread the winepress in Bozrah, and Babylon too, which has grown mighty; tear down my foes in anger and fury; hear my voice on the day I call.

אֱלֹהִים תֵּן בַּמִּדְבָּר הַר, הֲדַס שִׁטָּה בְּרוֹשׁ תִּדְהָר, וְלַמַּזְהִיר וְלַנִּזְהָר, שְׁלוֹמִים תֵּן כְּמֵי נָהָר׃

ʾĕlohim ten bammidhbar har, hădhas shiṭṭa bĕrosh tidhhar, wĕlammazhir wĕlannizhar, shĕlomim ten kĕme nahar.

God, set in the wilderness a mountain of myrtle, acacia, cypress, and elm; and to teacher and taught alike grant peace flowing like a river.

הֲדוֹךְ קָמַי אֵל קַנָּא, בְּמוֹג לֵבָב וּבַמְּגִנָּה, וְנַרְחִיב פֶּה וּנְמַלֶּֽאנָה, לְשׁוֹנֵנוּ לְךָ רִנָּה׃

hădhokh qamay ʾel qannaʾ, bĕmogh levav uvammĕghinna, wĕnarḥiv peh unĕmalleʾna, lĕshonenu lĕkha rinna.

Crush those who rise against me, O zealous God, with faintness of heart and with terror; then we will open our mouths wide and fill our tongues with song for You.

דְּעֵה חָכְמָה לְנַפְשֶֽׁךָ, וְהִיא כֶֽתֶר לְרֹאשֶֽׁךָ, נְצוֹר מִצְוַת קְדוֹשֶֽׁךָ, שְׁמוֹר שַׁבַּת קָדְשֶֽׁךָ׃

dĕ'eh ḥokhma lĕnafshekha, wĕhiʾ khether lĕroʾshekha, nĕṣor miṣwath qĕdhoshekha, shĕmor shabbath qodhshekha.

Know wisdom for your soul, for it is a crown for your head; keep the commandment of your Holy One, and guard His holy Sabbath.

כִּי אֶשְׁמְרָה שַׁבָּת אֵל יִשְׁמְרֵנִי, אוֹת הִיא לְעוֹלְמֵי עַד בֵּינוֹ וּבֵינִי׃

ki ʾeshmĕra shabbath ʾel yishmĕreni, ʾoth hiʾ lĕ'olĕme 'adh beno uveni.

For I will keep the Sabbath, God will keep me — it is a sign forever between Him and me.

אָסוּר מְצֹא חֵפֶץ לַעְשוֹת דְּרָכִים, גַּם לְדַבֶּר בּוֹ דִּבְרֵי מְלָכִים, דִּבְרֵי סְחוֹרָה אוֹ דִּבְרֵי צְרָכִים, אֶהְגֶּה בְּתוֹרַת אֵל וּתְחַכְּמֵנִי׃ אוֹת הִיא לְעוֹלְמֵי עַד בֵּינוֹ וּבֵינִי׃

ʾasur mĕṣoʾ ḥefeṣ la'shoth dĕrakhim, gam lĕdhabber bo divre mĕlakhim, divre sĕḥora ʾo divre ṣĕrakhim, ʾehgeh bĕthorath ʾel uthĕḥakkĕmeni. ʾoth hiʾ lĕ'olĕme 'adh beno uveni.

It is forbidden to seek to go about one's ways on it, or even to speak on it of the affairs of rulers, matters of trade or matters of one's needs; I will meditate on God's Torah, and it will make me wise. It is a sign forever between Him and me.

בּוֹ אֶמְצְאָה תָמִיד נֹפֶשׁ לְנַפְשִׁי, הִנֵּה לְדוֹר רִאשׁוֹן נָתַן קְדוֹשִׁי, מוֹפֵת בְּתֵת לֶחֶם מִשְׁנֶה בַּשִּׁשִּׁי, כָּכָה בְּכָל שִׁשִּׁי יַכְפִּיל מְזוֹנִי׃ אוֹת הִיא לְעוֹלְמֵי עַד בֵּינוֹ וּבֵינִי׃

bo ʾemṣĕʾa thamidh nofesh lĕnafshi, hinneh lĕdhor riʾshon nathan qĕdhoshi, mofeth bĕtheth leḥem mishneh bashshishshi, kakha bĕkhol shishshi yakhpil mĕzoni. ʾoth hiʾ lĕ'olĕme 'adh beno uveni.

In it I always find rest for my soul; behold, to the first generation my Holy One gave a wonder — a double portion of bread on the sixth day; so too each sixth day He doubles my sustenance. It is a sign forever between Him and me.

רָשַׁם בְּדַת הַיּוֹם חֹק אֶל סְגָנָיו, בּוֹ לַעֲרֹךְ לֶחֶם פָּנִים לְפָנָיו, עַל כֵּן לְהִתְעַנּוֹת עַל פִּי נְבוֹנָיו, אָסוּר לְבַד מִיּוֹם כִּפּוּר עֲוֹנִי׃ אוֹת הִיא לְעוֹלְמֵי עַד בֵּינוֹ וּבֵינִי׃

rasham bĕdhath hayyom ḥoq ʾel sĕghanaw, bo la'ărokh leḥem panim lĕfanaw, 'al ken lĕhith'annoth 'al pi nĕvonaw, ʾasur lĕvadh miyyom kippur 'ăwoni. ʾoth hiʾ lĕ'olĕme 'adh beno uveni.

He inscribed in the law of the day a statute for His officers, to arrange the showbread before Him on it; therefore, by the counsel of the wise, fasting is forbidden on it — except for the Day of Atonement for my sin. It is a sign forever between Him and me.

הוּא יוֹם מְכֻבָּד הוּא יוֹם תַּעֲנוּגִים, לֶחֶם וְיַיִן טוֹב בָּשָׂר וְדָגִים, מִתְאַבְּלִים בּוֹ הֵם אָחוֹר נְסוֹגִים, כִּי יוֹם שְׂמָחוֹת הוּא וִישַׂמְּחֵנִי׃ אוֹת הִיא לְעוֹלְמֵי עַד בֵּינוֹ וּבֵינִי׃

huʾ yom mĕkhubbadh huʾ yom ta'ănughim, leḥem wĕyayīn ṭov basar wĕdhaghim, mithʾabbĕlim bo hem ʾaḥor nĕsoghim, ki yom sĕmaḥoth huʾ wisammĕḥeni. ʾoth hiʾ lĕ'olĕme 'adh beno uveni.

It is a day of honor, a day of delights — bread and good wine, meat and fish; those who mourn turn back from it, for it is a day of joy, and may it gladden me. It is a sign forever between Him and me.

מֵחֵל מְלָאכָה בוֹ סוֹפוֹ לְהַכְרִית, עַל כֵּן אֲכַבֵּס בּוֹ לִבִּי בְּבוֹרִית, אֶתְפַּלֲלָה אֶל אֵל עַרְבִית וְשַׁחְרִית, מוּסַף וְגַם מִנְחָה כִּי יַעֲנֵנִי׃ אוֹת הִיא לְעוֹלְמֵי עַד בֵּינוֹ וּבֵינִי׃

meḥel mĕlaʾkha vo sofo lĕhakhrith, 'al ken ʾăkhabbes bo libbi bĕvorith, ʾethpalăla ʾel ʾel 'arvith wĕshaḥrith, musaf wĕgham minḥa ki ya'ăneni. ʾoth hiʾ lĕ'olĕme 'adh beno uveni.

Whoever begins work on it will in the end be cut off; therefore I will cleanse my heart on it with soap, and I will pray to God evening and morning, and at Musaf and at Mincha too, for He will answer me. It is a sign forever between Him and me.

אֶרֶץ וְרוּם בְּהִבָּרְאָם בְּהֵא בְּרָאָם, בְּלִי עָמָל אֵל הִמְצִיאָם אֲדוֹן עוֹלָם צוּר נְשִׂיאָם, שָׁבַת בְּיוֹם הַשַּׁבָּת, חַי חַי חַי׃

ʾereṣ wĕrum bĕhibbarĕʾam bĕheʾ bĕraʾam, bĕli 'amal ʾel himṣiʾam ʾădhon 'olam ṣur nĕsiʾam, shavath bĕyom hashshabbath, ḥay ḥay ḥay.

Earth and heaven, when they were created, He created with the letter heh; without labor did God bring them into being — Master of the universe, Rock who bears them up. He rested on the Sabbath day. Alive, alive, alive.

נְקִי כַפַּיִם וְטָהוֹר מְאוֹר הַנָּאוֹר, בִּלְתִּי חֹמֶר יָצַר הָאוֹר בְּרֵאשִׁית הַכֹּל בָּרָא אוֹר, בְּיוֹם אֶחָד בְּשַּׁבָּת, חַי חַי חַי׃

nĕqi khappayīm wĕṭahor mĕʾor hannaʾor, bilti ḥomer yaṣar haʾor bĕreʾshith hakkol baraʾ ʾor, bĕyom ʾeḥadh bĕshabbath, ḥay ḥay ḥay.

Clean of hands and pure, the beautiful luminary — without matter He formed the light; in the beginning of all things He created light, on the first day of the week. Alive, alive, alive.

יְחִידִי בְלִי שְׁנַיִם בָּרָא שָׁמַיִם, בִּלְתִּי עֵזֶר וְיָדַיִם הִבְדִיל בֵּין מַיִם לְמַיִם, בְּיוֹם שֵׁנִי בְּשַּׁבָּת, חַי חַי חַי׃

yĕḥidhi vĕli shĕnayīm baraʾ shamayīm, bilti 'ezer wĕyadhayīm hivdhil ben mayīm lĕmayīm, bĕyom sheni bĕshabbath, ḥay ḥay ḥay.

Alone, without a second, He created the heavens; without help or hands He divided the waters from the waters, on the second day of the week. Alive, alive, alive.

אֵל יוֹצֵר עוֹלָמִים בְּיָהּ הִמְצִיא, שֶׁתּוֹצִיא הָאָרֶץ פִּרְיָהּ גָּזַר אֹמֶר וְכֵן הָיָה, בַּשְׁלִישִׁי בְּשַּׁבָּת, חַי חַי חַי׃

ʾel yoṣer 'olamim bĕyah himṣiʾ, shettoṣiʾ haʾareṣ piryah gazar ʾomer wĕkhen haya, bashlishi bĕshabbath, ḥay ḥay ḥay.

God, Former of worlds, brought forth with Yah [His word] that the earth should bring forth its fruit; He decreed, and so it was, on the third day of the week. Alive, alive, alive.

בְּלִי אוֹן בְּלִי גְבוּרוֹת יָצַר מְאוֹרוֹת, לָאוֹר וּלְהַצְמִיחַ פֵּרוֹת גָזַר וְנִתְלוּ מְאוֹרוֹת, בָּרְבִיעִי בְּשַּׁבָּת, חַי חַי חַי׃

bĕli ʾon bĕli ghĕvuroth yaṣar mĕʾoroth, laʾor ulĕhaṣmiaḥ peroth ghazar wĕnithlu mĕʾoroth, barĕvi'i bĕshabbath, ḥay ḥay ḥay.

Without force, without power, He formed the luminaries; He decreed that they give light and cause fruit to grow, and the lights were set in place, on the fourth day of the week. Alive, alive, alive.

רָב כֹּחַ אֵלִי אַנְוֵהוּ וַאֲרוֹמְמֶנְהוּ, כָּל נֶפֶשׁ חַיָּה הִמְצִיא הוּא כָּל עוֹף כָּנָף לְמִינֵהוּ, בַּחֲמִישִׁי בְּשַּׁבָּת, חַי חַי חַי׃

rav koaḥ ʾeli ʾanwehu waʾăromĕmenhu, kol nefesh ḥayya himṣiʾ huʾ kol 'of kanaf lĕminehu, baḥămishi bĕshabbath, ḥay ḥay ḥay.

Great in strength is my God — I will glorify Him and exalt Him; He brought forth every living creature, every winged bird after its kind, on the fifth day of the week. Alive, alive, alive.

הָאֵל רָם נִמְלַךְ בְּתֻמּוֹ עַל נַפְשׁוֹת עַמּוֹ, וּבָרָא אָדָם בְּצַלְמוֹ הִשְׁלִיטוֹ בְּכָל עוֹלָמוֹ, בְּיוֹם שִׁשִׁי בְּשַּׁבָּת, חַי חַי חַי׃

haʾel ram nimlakh bĕthummo 'al nafshoth 'ammo, uvaraʾ ʾadham bĕṣalmo hishliṭo bĕkhol 'olamo, bĕyom shishi bĕshabbath, ḥay ḥay ḥay.

God on high took counsel in His integrity for the souls of His people, and created man in His image, giving him dominion over all His world, on the sixth day of the week. Alive, alive, alive.

מַלְכִּי הִשְׁלִים כָּל מְלַאכְתּוֹ בְּיוֹם שַׁבַּתּוֹ, וַיְקַדֵּשׁ וַיְבָרֶךְ אוֹתוֹ עַל כֵּן יִשְׁמְרוּ עֲדָתוֹ, יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת הַשַּׁבָּת, חַי חַי חַי׃

malki hishlim kol mĕlaʾkhto bĕyom shabbatto, wayĕqaddesh wayĕvarekh ʾotho 'al ken yishmĕru 'ădhatho, yisraʾel ʾeth hashshabbath, ḥay ḥay ḥay.

My King completed all His work on His Sabbath day, and He sanctified it and blessed it; therefore let His congregation, Israel, keep the Sabbath. Alive, alive, alive.

חָזָק הוּא וְנוֹרָא עֶלְיוֹן נֶעְלָם מֵרַעְיוֹן, יְמַהֵר יִבְנֶה הַר צִיּוֹן וְיַנְחִיל עַם דַּל וְאֶבְיוֹן, עוֹלָם שֶׁכֻּלּוֹ שַׁבָּת, חַי חַי חַי׃

ḥazaq huʾ wĕnoraʾ 'elyon ne'lam mera'yon, yĕmaher yivneh har ṣiyyon wĕyanḥil 'am dal wĕʾevyon, 'olam shekkullo shabbath, ḥay ḥay ḥay.

Mighty and awesome is He, Most High, hidden from thought; may He swiftly rebuild the Mount of Zion, and grant to the poor and needy people an inheritance in the world that is entirely Sabbath. Alive, alive, alive.

Now he harnesses his chariot again, wandering in exile — for through this his heart did not lie down, nor did his eyes know sleep. God of Elijah, God of Elijah — for the sake of Elijah the Prophet, bring him swiftly.

רַב מַחְלִי בִּרְאוֹת כַּחְשִׁי, וּמְשַׂנְאוֹת יָפוֹת וּבְרִיאֹת בָּשָׂר, וַתִּרְעֶֽינָה׃ אֵל אֵלִיָּֽהוּ, אֵל אֵלִיָּֽהוּ, בִּזְכוּת אֵלִיָּֽהוּ הַנָּבִיא, הָבֵא נָא׃

rav maḥli birʾoth kaḥshi, umĕsanʾoth yafoth uvĕriʾoth basar, wattir'ena. ʾel ʾeliyyahu, ʾel ʾeliyyahu, bizkhuth ʾeliyyahu hannaviʾ, haveʾ naʾ.

Great is my anguish at seeing my own leanness — like the lean cows that hated and devoured the fair, well-fed ones. God of Elijah, God of Elijah — for the sake of Elijah the Prophet, bring him swiftly.

הַשְׁקֵה צוּר מֵי רֹאשׁ, צַר עֵינָיו יִלְטֹשׁ, יוֹם עֵינַי לִקְדוֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל תִּשְׁעֶֽינָה׃ אֵל אֵלִיָּֽהוּ, אֵל אֵלִיָּֽהוּ, בִּזְכוּת אֵלִיָּֽהוּ הַנָּבִיא, הָבֵא נָא׃

hashqeh ṣur me roʾsh, ṣar 'enaw yilṭosh, yom 'enay liqdhosh yisraʾel tish'ena. ʾel ʾeliyyahu, ʾel ʾeliyyahu, bizkhuth ʾeliyyahu hannaviʾ, haveʾ naʾ.

O Rock, You have made me drink bitter water; the foe sharpens his eyes in malice — until the day my eyes shall gaze upon the Holy One of Israel. God of Elijah, God of Elijah — for the sake of Elijah the Prophet, bring him swiftly.

מָתַי תַּרְאֶה אוֹת יֶֽשַׁע, אֶל קוֹרְאוֹת לָךְ, וּלְךָ נוֹשְׂאוֹת קוֹלָן וַתִּבְכֶּֽנָה׃ אֵל אֵלִיָּֽהוּ, אֵל אֵלִיָּֽהוּ, בִּזְכוּת אֵלִיָּֽהוּ הַנָּבִיא, הָבֵא נָא׃

mathay tarʾeh ʾoth yesha', ʾel qorĕʾoth lakh, ulĕkha nosĕʾoth qolan wattivkena. ʾel ʾeliyyahu, ʾel ʾeliyyahu, bizkhuth ʾeliyyahu hannaviʾ, haveʾ naʾ.

When will You show a sign of salvation to those who call out to You, who lift their voice to You and weep? God of Elijah, God of Elijah — for the sake of Elijah the Prophet, bring him swiftly.

מַלְאַךְ הַגּוֹאֵל לִפְנֵי דַל שׁוֹאֵל, אָנָּא הָאֵל, אֵל אַבְרָהָם הַקְרֵה נָא׃ אֵל אֵלִיָּֽהוּ, אֵל אֵלִיָּֽהוּ, בִּזְכוּת אֵלִיָּֽהוּ הַנָּבִיא, הָבֵא נָא׃

malʾakh haggoʾel lifne dhal shoʾel, ʾannaʾ haʾel, ʾel ʾavraham haqreh naʾ. ʾel ʾeliyyahu, ʾel ʾeliyyahu, bizkhuth ʾeliyyahu hannaviʾ, haveʾ naʾ.

O redeeming angel, before this poor one who pleads: please, God, God of Abraham, send him swiftly. God of Elijah, God of Elijah — for the sake of Elijah the Prophet, bring him swiftly.

הַמַּבְדִּיל בֵּין קֹדֶשׁ לְחוֹל חַטֹּאתֵינוּ יִמְחוֹל, זַרְעֵנוּ וְכַסְפֵּנוּ יַרְבֶּה כַּחוֹל וְכַכּוֹכָבִים בַּלָּיְלָה׃ לִכְבוֹד חֶמְדַּת לְבָבִי אֵלִיָּהוּ הַנָּבִיא׃

hammavdil ben qodhesh lĕḥol ḥaṭṭoʾthenu yimḥol, zar'enu wĕkhaspenu yarbeh kaḥol wĕkhakkokhavim ballayĕla. likhvodh ḥemdath lĕvavi ʾeliyyahu hannaviʾ.

He who separates between the sacred and the mundane, may He forgive our sins, and multiply our offspring and our silver like the sand and like the stars at night. In honor of the delight of my heart, Elijah the Prophet.

יוֹם פָּנָה כְּצֵל תֹּמֶר אֶקְרָא לָאֵל עָלַי גּוֹמֵר, יוֹם אֲשֶׁר אָמַר שׁוֹמֵר אָתָא בֹקֶר וְגַם לָיְלָה׃ לִכְבוֹד חֶמְדַּת לְבָבִי אֵלִיָּהוּ הַנָּבִיא׃

yom pana kĕṣel tomer ʾeqraʾ laʾel 'alay gomer, yom ʾăsher ʾamar shomer ʾathaʾ voqer wĕgham layĕla. likhvodh ḥemdath lĕvavi ʾeliyyahu hannaviʾ.

The day has turned like the shadow of a palm tree; I call to God, who accomplishes all things for me, on the day of which the Watchman said, "Morning has come, and also night." In honor of the delight of my heart, Elijah the Prophet.

מִימִינֵנוּ מִיכָאֵל וּמִשְּׂמֹאלֵנוּ גַּבְרִיאֵל, וְעַל רֹאשֵׁנוּ שְׁכִינַת אֵל בְּכָל יוֹם וּבְכָל לָיְלָה׃ לִכְבוֹד חֶמְדַּת לְבָבִי אֵלִיָּהוּ הַנָּבִיא׃

miminenu mikhaʾel umissĕmoʾlenu gavriʾel, wĕ'al roʾshenu shĕkhinath ʾel bĕkhol yom uvĕkhol layĕla. likhvodh ḥemdath lĕvavi ʾeliyyahu hannaviʾ.

At our right is Michael, and at our left is Gabriel, and above our heads is the Divine Presence, every day and every night. In honor of the delight of my heart, Elijah the Prophet.

יְבוֹרַךְ הַבַּיִת הַזֶּה מִפִּי נָבִיא וְגַם חוֹזֶה, כִּי כֵן יְצַוֶּה אֱלֹהֵינוּ זֶה לְשָׁמְרוֹ יוֹמָם וָלָיְלָה׃ לִכְבוֹד חֶמְדַּת לְבָבִי אֵלִיָּהוּ הַנָּבִיא׃

yĕvorakh habbayīth hazzeh mippi naviʾ wĕgham ḥozeh, ki khen yĕṣawweh ʾĕlohenu zeh lĕshamĕro yomam walayĕla. likhvodh ḥemdath lĕvavi ʾeliyyahu hannaviʾ.

May this house be blessed by the mouth of a prophet and also a seer, for so our God has commanded, to guard it day and night. In honor of the delight of my heart, Elijah the Prophet.
