You sanctified the seventh day for Your name, the culmination of the making of heaven and earth; You blessed it above all days and sanctified it above all appointed times, and so it is written in Your Torah: The heavens and the earth were finished, and all their array. On the seventh day God finished the work He had made, and He ceased on the seventh day from all the work He had made. God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, for on it He ceased from all His work which God had created to do.

Moses rejoiced in the gift of his portion, for You called him a faithful servant. You set a crown of splendor on his head when he stood before You on Mount Sinai. He brought down two tablets of stone in his hand, and upon them was written the observance of Shabbat, and so it is written in Your Torah: The Children of Israel shall keep the Shabbat, observing the Shabbat throughout their generations as an everlasting covenant. It is a sign forever between Me and the Children of Israel, for in six days Adhonay made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He ceased and rested. You did not give it, Adhonay our God, to the nations of the lands, nor did You bestow it, our King, upon idol-worshippers; nor will the uncircumcised dwell in its rest, for You gave it in love to Your people Israel, to the seed of Jacob whom You chose. Those who keep Shabbat and call it a delight shall rejoice in Your kingship — a people who sanctify the seventh day; all of them shall be satisfied and delighted with Your goodness. You favored the seventh day and sanctified it; You called it the most precious of days, a remembrance of the work of creation.

You are good, for Your mercies never end; You are compassionate, for Your kindnesses never cease — for we have always placed our hope in You. And for all these, may Your name, our King, be blessed and exalted and raised on high, always, forever. Those who delight in it inherit glory forever; those who taste of it merit life; and even those who love its teaching have chosen greatness. At Sinai they were commanded the details of its observance, as is fitting: May it be Your will, Adhonay our God and God of our ancestors, that You bring us up in joy to our land and plant us within our borders, and there we will offer before You our obligatory offerings: the daily offerings in their order and the additional offerings according to their law. The additional offering of this Shabbat day we will offer and bring near before You in love, as You have commanded us, as You wrote for us in Your Torah through Moses Your servant, as it is said: On the Shabbat day, two yearling lambs without blemish, and two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil as a meal offering, and its libation — this is the burnt offering of each Shabbat, in addition to the daily burnt offering and its libation.

It is a sign forever between Me and the Children of Israel, for in six days Adhonay made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He ceased and rested. And it says: On the Shabbat day, two yearling lambs without blemish, and two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil as a meal offering, and its libation — this is the burnt offering of each Shabbat, in addition to the daily burnt offering and its libation.

We give thanks to You, that You are Adhonay our God and the God of our ancestors forever; You are the Rock of our lives, the Shield of our salvation, from generation to generation. We will thank You and recount Your praise for our lives that are entrusted into Your hand, for our souls that are in Your charge, for Your miracles that are with us every day, and for Your wonders and goodness at every hour — evening, morning, and noon. You are good, for Your mercies never end; You are compassionate, for Your kindnesses never cease — for we have always placed our hope in You. And for all these, may Your name, our King, be blessed and exalted and raised on high, always, forever. And let all the living give thanks to You, Selah, and praise and bless Your great name in truth, forever, for it is good — the God of our salvation and our help, Selah, the good God. Blessed are You, Adhonay, whose name is good, and to whom thanks are fitting.
